5+ Easy Backpacking Breakfasts
Easy Backpacking Breakfasts:
These are all breakfasts that I absolutely love. I am only ever going to give you good recipes and good ideas.
1.Instant oatmeal:
This is pretty much my go to anymore. It is easy to make and tastes delicious. You can make your oats as hearty as you want to by combining all sorts of things into the meal. My go to combination is instant oats, freeze dried fruit, and protein powder. Here are some other yummy oats I have made:
Chocolate peanut butter delight: Instant Oats, Chocolate Peanut Butter Powder, Protein Powder
Berry Madness: Instant Oats, stevia powder, protein powder, freeze dried blueberries, freeze dried strawberries, freeze dried raspberries
Strawberry Delight: Instant Oats, stevia powder, protein powder, freeze dried strawberries
Blueberry Cream: Instant Oats, stevia powder, protein powder, freeze dried blueberries
Calorie Blast: Instant Oats, stevia powder, protein powder, milk powder, freeze dried blueberries, coconut shreds, Peanut Butter powder, almond slices
Getting Nutty: Instant Oats, stevia powder, protein powder, sliced almonds, macadamia nuts
Here are some of my favorite items to use:
2. Instant Hot Cereal:
Pretty much any hot cereal that you can just add hot water. So pick your favorite and get to eating :)
3. Granola:
I actually use granola as a lunch :) It is perfect for breakfast as well. The one thing I want to say is that this is going to be WAY heavier than any sort of instant hot cereal.
I typically make mine by adding water, freeze dried berries, and Nido Milk Powder.
4. Eggs and Bacon:
Ok, so this is the best tasting breakfast. You can even bring a tortilla and have a egg burrito. Bring in some baby bell cheese and boom! It really just depends on how heavy you want to pack.
Now when I say eggs and bacon I mean powdered eggs and bacon jerky. Now, these OvaEasy powdered eggs are absolutely amazing. The only ingredient in these is eggs and they taste just like scrambled eggs as if you were at home.
5. Freeze Dried Meals
Mountain house is the most well known brand when it comes to freeze dried meals for backpacking; however, lately there have been a ton of brands popping up with new freeze dried meal options. These are super easy. Just add water to the pouch and BOOM!
Now, if you are wanting to be healthy Mountain house has a ton of salt. Like alot alot. Like more than you need for days. So, I want to give a big ole shout out to Heather’s Choice. Her meals are delicious and super healthy for you. That is her goal is to make yummy meals that are healthy and easy for the back country. So if you are willing to spend about $1-$2 more on each meal I would highly recommend her meals.
