What I Am Planting For This Summers Garden Inspiration

Well it is that time of year again! Time to plant the garden for all the summertime veggies! This will be my second year trying to garden. I learned quite a bit of things last year that I am going to try to implement this year. I will be sharing that later on in this post.

Before we get started on what I am planting this year and what just all the things summertime gardening, if you are new to gardening welcome! We can learn together :) If you are good at gardening, welcome! I would love any thoughts, ideas, tips, tricks, etc along the way. Please please comment below so we can all learn how to garden together.

When I started gardening I stumbled upon a pretty easy way to make a simple garden bed. If you are wanting something easy and quick make sure to check out this article on How to make a simple outdoor raised garden

What I Am Planting For This Summers Garden Inspiration

  • Tomatoes

  • Zucchini

  • Yellow Squash

  • Eggplant

  • Onions

  • Bell Peppers

  • Jalapenos

  • Cucumbers

  • Snap Peas

  • Potatoes

  • Herbs: Basil, Rosemary, and Cilantro

I also planted an apricot tree and a blue berry bush. The blueberry bush is starting to actually show some blueberries, but the apricot tree won’t yield anything this year.

I bought this blueberry bush from Amazon. I had no idea that you could buy plants off of amazon. I wanted a blueberry bush for quite some time, but in the small town that I live in, I couldn’t find one. Then, I had a bright idea to search amazon. Low and behold, BAM they sell all sorts of plants. I should have known right? I mean what doesn’t amazon sell?

So what changed from last year?

Last year:

  • I planted beets, radishes, and carrots. What I found is that these veggies take up quite a bit of space for little yield, so I decided to eliminated these veggies all together.

  • I went about planting a little haphazardly last year. I just went to Lowe’s, grabbed what looked good, and planted away. What I found was that I ended up having too much of some things and not enough of others. So this year I really thought about what I needed and wanted. What was I going to actually eat?

Things you are going to need for this summers garden:

There are a few essentials that are much needed for gardening. Yep, I learned this last year. You are going to at least want

  1. garden gloves

  2. diatomaceous earth

  3. garden tools

  4. neem oil

Alright, there you have it. What I am planting for this summers garden. Just some garden inspiration for ya :)

If you are debating on starting a garden just do it! Honestly, all you need would be some half wine barrels, soil, and plants that you want to grow. I have quite a few things in my wine barrels and it works out perfect. My point is, DO NOT OVER COMPLICATE THIS. Don’t let your overthinking head get in the way. Gardening is super fun and rewarding.
