Are you one of those people that:

  • Go to Starbucks on the Regular?

  • Are tired of using so much sugar in your coffee?

  • Wanting to get away from that fake coffee creamer?

  • Are obsessed with coffee?

Well, I was all of those things. I made my coffee sweeter thank a candy bar. I added spoonful after spoonful of sugar and then loaded in the coffee creamers. One day I decided that I needed to eat less sugar. I looked at my diet and the very first thing to change was the way I drank my coffee. Now, let me tell you, no one messes with my coffee. I am obsessed with coffee and this was a huge internal battle for me to try and change. Each day I would think I should start changing things up to get a bit healthier; however, each day I had the excuse of 'it is only on cup'.

Failed Attempts...

So I finally sat myself down and decided to give it a go. The first thing I did was switch to tea. That lasted for about 2 seconds as I love coffee. The second thing I tried was no sugar and only almond milk... again that was about a 2 second thing. After two failed attempts I tried using no sugar and only real heavy creamer. This was better, but still not awesome. I tried so many different things such as using honey, I tried using stevia, I tried that bulletproof coffee (you know the one that calls for butter).... ya nothing. I didn't like any of it.

The moment that changed it all..

One day I was at my parents house and my dad asked me to try his coffee. Now, my dad likes his coffee black. I looked at him with the 'ya right' kind of look. Eventually he convinced me to try it and let me tell you, it was AMAZING! I was shocked.

So what was in this coffee you ask? It was so super simple and so super good. Here is the ingredients along with how to make it:

Healthy Latte Recipe

Ingredients:

  1. 1 cup of coffee (I use 12 ounces)

  2. 1 Tablespoon of Honey

  3. 1 Tablespoon of Coconut Oil

**Note: When I started using this recipe I used 2 tablespoons of honey. You might have to play with the amounts until you get it how you like it.

Directions:

  1. Add all ingredients into a blender

  2. Pulse 3-5 times (until frothy)

  3. Pour into your cup and enjoy!

So, my dad did not blend his. This created for a bit of an oil layer on top of the coffee. He likes it not blended; however, I prefer mine blended as it creates the frothy layer and makes it just like a latte.
